Simple Game of Chess
So my kids are really into playing chess right now. They are 5, 6 and 7. Here's the thing. They do not know how to play chess?!?! It's hilarious because they think it is just like checkers. Who am I to tell them they are wrong? I myself have NO CLUE how to play chess. So my Kolton is begging me today to play chess. "I'm sorry brother, I don't know how to play." "It's easy Mama," he says, "It's just like checkers except for checkers doesn't have a clock you hit when you get to the other side." Not too confused, but interested in his answer, I ask..."What's the clock for?" "Well, instead of saying king me, when you get to the other side, you hit the clock and say, check me. So come on let's play." I have to say, that is pretty good insight. I mean why else would they be hitting a clock at the end, right? Oh, how I love how their little minds work. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to play a game of chess.

so unworthy
I've been thinking about the whole "month" of thankfulness thing, that I have been posting to Facebook. What I need to be doing, is writing these things every day of the year. I need to be thinking of things that are not only obvious things to be thankful for but things we don't really remember to be thankful for. The messes we clean up, the recipes we mess up, the hectic schedules...these just mean, we are blessed by people to make messes, things to make messes with, food to be able to eat, places to be able to go and a car to take us there. I want to try to remember each day to be not only thankful, but GRATEful. I don't think I am grateful enough. I am not worthy of any of these blessings, especially the blessing of my SAVIOR.

Comfy Saturday Morning
I really thought today was gonna be rough when the kids got up at 6:30 on a Saturday morning, but man, it's been great!! I'm telling you, cloudy days are the BEST! We had chocolate chip pancakes, bacon and eggs WITH hot cocoa! We are still in comfy clothes and are watching, for the 2nd time in 24 hours, Cars 2. I am thankful for the Lord's goodness today! His blessings always amaze me! I think for our next activity, we will color! In what else, but the Cars coloring book?! Then I might read my Food Network magazine....ahhhhhhhhh

Be Still and Know that I am God Psalm 46:10
Today, D drove to his car to work. Normal.
Today, D drove his car to work and ALSO, took the keys to my truck to work with him. Not normal.
It's okay, though. After calling friends frantically this morning to help take the kids to school. {along with 24 cupcakes for Kolt's class} Rummaging through drawers, with what seemed to be endless junk in them, searching for an extra set of keys. {Really should organize those drawers} Calling and cancelling appointments of the day, and re-scheduling. Calling school to give them this wonderful information. You know, just freaking out a tad, about my day and all the routine that goes with it, just flying out the window...or down Calumet Avenue in my husband's pocket.
It's really okay though, because I have realized something today. An eye opening realization. : )
This was the Lord saying to me.... K! Sloooooow down. Be still, be quiet.
I have been so caught up in my "schedule" or "to-do lists" that I haven't slowed down at all. Trying to fit it all in, even after telling myself before school started this year, that it was not going to happen this time. So, after a rough start to a day, I am finally glad that he took those stinkin' keys with him to work. I am trying to be thankful in today's "storm". I need to be thankful that I have a house that needs cleaning, that I have friends that are willing to help in tough situations, that my husband had a job to go to this morning. So dinner may not be ready at a decent hour this evening, but atleast we will have dinner. That is if I can get D to go to the store on his way home. ; )
Thank you Lord, for showing me how to be quiet.
I may even take a nice walk outside on this cool Fall morning.... to my neighbors house to drink some coffee.
